The Cayeli underground copper-zinc mine in Turkey has resumed production. It had been closed since the end of October due to a series of ground failures in the south sections of the higher mining levels. These areas are largely mined out and backfilled.
As INMET MINING, 55% owner of the project, put it: "The damage occurred after the failure of an ore pillar led to an accelerated redistribution of stresses onto the adjacent mine workings." The main access ramp needed rehabilitation after this event.
