Next year McKENZIE BAY INTERNATIONAL plans to build a pilot-size commercial production facility at its Lac Dor site near Chibougamau, Qu. The plant will turn out four vanadium electrolyte products of varying high purity. The pilot plant will have a capacity of 63 million litres of electrolyte (4 million lb vanadium pentoxide equivalent) per year and is expected to generate production revenue in 2003.

The 80-million-tonne Lac Dor deposit is the largest deposit of vanadium in North America and the second largest in the world. Capital costs are pegged at $364 million. SOQUEM can earn a 20% interest by participating in the feasibility study and funding a proportionate share of the development costs.
