Peter C. Jones, president and COO of INCO LTD. has been elected to its board of directors. Jones has been with Inco since January 1997. Prior to that he served as president and CEO of Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting.
GLENCAIRN GOLD has named Robert Whittall its new VP finance and CFO. Most recently he held an analogous position at TVX Gold. He is also chairman of the PDAC financial and taxation committee. Peter Tedger, the former CFO, has moved to VP corporate affairs.
Michael K. Walter has been named VP operations by TIBERON MINERALS. Before joining Tiberon, Walter was an international project director and chief engineer of the Geoscience Centre in The Hague, Belgium, for BHP Billiton. Tiberon has also announced the election of Ian Gowrie-Smith to its board as non-executive chairman.
Christopher Dundas has been named to the WALLBRIDGE MINING board. He is a director of Murray & Company Holdings Ltd. Wallbridge now has seven board members, four of whom are independent.
SOUTH AMERICAN GOLD AND COPPER CO. has named a new manager of mine operations, Hector A. Araya, for its 100%-owned Pimeton gold mine in Chile. His career highlights include being a VP and general manager of the El Indio mine, which was at one time the largest gold mine in Chile.
The new president of STRONGBOW RESOURCES is William J. Wolfe. He replaces Grenville Thomas who will remain on the board. Wolfe holds a BSc in geology and chemistry from Queen's University and MS and PhD in geology from Yale University. He joined Cominco in 1974 and was involved with the discovery and ore reserve definition of the Snip gold mine in British Columbia, the Maria copper-molybdenum mine in Mexico, and the Kudz Ze Kayah copper-zinc-lead-silver-gold VMS deposit in the Yukon. During 1990-91 he was president of the British Columbia and Yukon Chamber of Mines, and from 1990-2002 he served as a director of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.
