Two executives have been added to the management team at WHEATON RIVER MINERALS. Russell Barwick is the new executive VP and managing director of the company's Asia-Pacific operations. He will be based in Sydney, Australia. Peter Barnes, formerly of CREW DEVELOPMENT, becomes executive VP, based in Vancouver.

ALCAN has proposed the election of L. Denis Desautels and Milton K. Wong to its board of directors. Desautels is executive director of the University of Ottawa Centre on Governance, and was Auditor General of Canada from 1991-2001. Wong is chairman of HSBC Asset Management (Canada) and chancellor of Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.

NORTHERN EMPIRE MINERALS of Vancouver has appointed Peter B. Nixon to its board. He brings over 30 years of experience in research and institutional equity sales to the company.

Gary Abrams is now president of SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC in Canada. He has been VP of manufacturing operations and services for Schneider Electric Mexico and plant manager for a number of the company's facilities in the United States.

Junior company MAGNUM D'OR RESOURCES has a new president, Reno J. Calgrigo, and a new secretary, Janet Winkler. The board also announced the resignation of CEO Michael R. Levine and president Howard Klein. The changes were effective March 13.

Mike Curtis is now a director of VVC EXPLORATION. His appointment fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Derek Bartlett.

PRELATE CANADA welcomes two new board members, Gilles Paquet and Martin Joyal. Paquet is president of TRAITEMENT JONQUIERES and a director of MATAMIC EXPLORATIONS. Joyal is a partner in Lavery, de Billy where he specializes in business law, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions.

SOUTHERNERA RESOURCES has named Williams de Broe Plc as its UK-nominated advisor and broker in respect of the company's listing on the London Stock Exchange AIM market.

Paul Zweng has joined QGX LTD. as the company's COO. He holds a BSc in geology and mineral economics from Stanford University, an MSc in geological sciences from Queen's University, and a PhD in applied earth sciences, also from Stanford. He is overseeing QGX's drilling program at its Golden Hills prospect in Mongolia.
