Abacus Mining & Exploration of Vancouver has named Gordon Frost to the post of chief mine engineer for the development of the Afton-Ajax mine near Kamloops, BC. For the last five years he was employed by AMEX and worked on projects in Latin America, Central Asia and Canada including the Afton-Ajax project. Before that he was mine engineer at the Huckleberry mine.

 

Jean-Francois Perrault is the new CEO of Montreal-based Big Red Diamond Corp. He is a graduate of McGill University (economics) and Concordia University (MBA).

 

Vancouver's Frontera Copper Corp. has replaced its entire board of directors following the takeover by Invecture Group SA de CV. It now consists of Bryan Nethery, Steve Vanry, Rene G. Carrier and Gordon J. Fretwell. Additionally, Nethery has been appointed interim CEO and Mark Distler interim CFO of the company.

 

Claude F. Lemasson has been named president and COO of Guyana Goldfields located in Toronto. Lemasson was previously the general manager of projects for Goldcorp, including that company's Eleanore project. Former president Patrick Sheridan will continue in his role as CEO.

 

Kobex Resources of Vancouver has named Anthonie Luteijn as a director of the company. A former Placer Dome employee, he was project manager for the Kidston, Porgera and Misima mine developments.

 

The technical team for the Fiskenaesset ruby project belonging to Vancouver's True North Gems has been strengthened by the appointments of Rejane Amaral as project manager and Iain Groves as senior exploration geologist. Former VP exploration Greg Davison has resigned to pursue other opportunities.
