William Sherriff has been named chairman of two Vancouver companies, American Consolidated Minerals Corp. and the newly formed True North Mining. At True North, Dr. Art Ettlinger has taken up the reins as president.

 

Frontera Copper Corp. of Vancouver has reconstituted its board of directors. The transitional board was replaced with the permanent one which includes Gerardo Luis Cazenave-Tapie Isoard, Arturo Rosas Barrientos and Luis Alfonso Cervantes, all of Mexico City. Isoard will also serve as CEO.

 

Daniel Dufort, a mining engineer and most recently a project manager for SNC-Lavalin, has been named VP operations by Labrador Iron Mines Holdings of Toronto. He will oversee the development of the company's direct shipping project in western Labrador. Commercial production is planned for mid-2010.

 

The new CEO at Toronto's Noront Resources will be Wes Hanson, effective June 22, 2009. He was VP mine development for Western Goldfields until the recent announcement of its business combination with New Gold. Hanson holds a geology degree from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick.
