Atna Resources of Denver has named David Watkins it executive chairman, and he will be stepping down from his responsibilities as CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2009. The CEO's position will be filled by James Hesketh, who is also the company president.
Aaron Regent will be the new president and CEO at Toronto's Barrick Gold, effective January 16, 2009. The 43-year-old Regent was previously president of Falconbridge, and most recently senior managing partner of Brookfield Asset Management and co-CEO of its Infrastructure Group.
Toronto's FNX Mining has realigned its senior management with the following appointments: William (Bill) Shaver as COO; Gord Morrison as senior VP exploration; and Catharine Farrow as senior VP corporate development and technical services.
Petaquilla Minerals of Vancouver has named Joao Manuel as COO. He was CFO of Petaquilla Copper prior to his appointment.
Julie Lassonde has taken over the presidency of Toronto-based Takara Resources from CEO Jennifer Boyle. Lassonde is a civil engineer who has worked with SNC-Lavalin. She has also worked as an investment banker in Australia and the United States. Most recently she was VP corporate development with Southampton Ventures.
