MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Aurvista Gold, Critical Elements, First Point, Gold Dynamics, Passport Potash, and Rio Alto

Montreal-based Aurvista Gold Corp. has named Rick Adams its chairman, president and CEO. Former president Guy Brunet will remain on the board. Adams was a founder and director of Castle Gold until its sale in 2010.

Pat Bonneville is now the project manager of the Rose lithium-tantalum project owned by Critical Elements Corp. of Montreal. A graduate mining engineer from Queen's University, Bonneville was manager at the Lapa and Goldex shaft projects, two of a long list both in Quebec and overseas.

First Point Minerals of Vancouver has a new president and CEO, James S. Gilbert. He has a lengthy list of investment and transaction execution, including more than 20 years in the international mining industry. Former president Dr. Peter Bradshaw has been elected non-executive chairman .

Gold Dynamics of Las Vegas has appointed Gary Kirk its new president. He was president and CEO of Patricia Mining that was acquired by Richmont Mines.

Vancouver's Passport Potash has named David J. Salisbury as a director and chair of the board. He was president and CEO of Resolution Copper Mining from 2008 to his retirement in 2011. Prior to that he held the equivalent role at Kennecott Minerals and was a member of Rio Tinto's global improvement program team.

Alex Black is now CEO as well as president of Vancouver-based Rio Alto Mining. Victor Gobitz will replace him as COO commencing Feb. 1, 2012.
