BAFFINLAND IRON MINES of Toronto welcomed Gordon A. McCreary and CEO in addition to his role as chairman. McCreary is a mining engineering with 30 years' experience, most recently at Kinross Gold.

Derrick Kershaw, who retired recently from Syncrude Canada, has joined the board of BIRCH MOUNTAIN RESOURCES in Calgary. Kershaw led the $650-million development of the Aurora mine. Birch Mountain is developing a limestone quarry near Fort McMurray.

BREAKER TECHNOLOGY (BTI) of Thornbury, Ont., has announced several personnel changes. Don Sissons has joined the organization as plant operations and engineering manager. The new customer service manager for all BTI operations is Terry McKague, and his former duties as eastern and central Canada regional manager will be assumed by Bill Mitchell, who will retain his Canadian mining and OEM role. Further, BTI has expanded its networks of dealers in six US states.

Donald Brisebois, formerly general manager of Rocmec International, has been named the president and CEO of Montreal's MIRABEL RESOURCES. Past president Normand Allen is stepping into the chairman's position at Mirabel.

Montreal-based FOREST GATE RESOURCES has hired Pieter Du Plessis as VP exploration. Du Plessis, formerly of De Beers and a resident of Botswana, will assume his duties as soon as he receives a work permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

FARALLON RESOURCES of Vancouver has named Dick Whittington its COO to takes its Campo Morado property in Mexico through the advanced exploration and development stages.

METALCORP LTD. of Thunder Bay, Ont., announced the appointment of Rodney Thomas as chairman. He succeeds Henry Knowles, who remains a member of the board. Thomas is a professional geologist with expertise in uranium, gold and diamond exploration.

Deborah G. Thiel is now VP of corporate development for CORNERSTONE CAPITAL of Mount Pearl, Nfld. She was a founding director and VP of Mindoro Resources and consulted with many junior companies.

Effective at the beginning of June, TRUE NORTH GEMS of Vancouver named Greg Fekete as president and welcomed Nick Houghton to its board. Fekete was instrumental in negotiating True North's recent acquisitions of ruby properties in Greenland and sapphire properties on Baffin Island.
