TORONTO-based CRYSTALLEX INTERNATIONAL CORP. has appointed William A. Faust as COO and senior VP, effective Apr. 16. He will direct the company's mining operations in Venezuela, including the development, construction and operation of the Las Cristinas gold project. Crystallex is in the final stages of environmental permitting for the Las Cristinas project. Faust has over 28 years of engineering and management experience, particularly in open pit mining in Mexico and the Western U.S. He most recently served as VP operations for Nevada Pacific Gold Ltd., which was acquired by U.S. Gold Corp. last month.

Rick Koumouris has been named senior VP and general manager of FLUOR CORP.'s Mining & Metals business line. Previously, he served as Fluors VP of global operations, VP of South America operations and as the global sales lead for the M&M business line. Fluor Corp. provides services on a global basis in the fields of engineering, procurement, construction, operations, maintenance and project management, and is headquartered in Irving, Tex. It had revenues of US$14.1 billion in 2006.

The board of directors of Halifax, N.S.-based GAMMON LAKE RESOURCES has appointed Russell Barwick as CEO and a director. Barwick is a high profile executive and mining engineer with more than 33 years of experience planning and developing mining operations. He recently completed a four year tenure as executive VP and COO of Wheaton River Minerals-Goldcorp.

Toronto-based GLENCAIRN GOLD CORP. has appointed Bruce Humphrey, P.Eng., as an independent director. Humphrey has more than 30 years of experience in the international mining industry. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Desert Sun Mining, which successfully developed the Jacobina mine complex in Brazil. From 1998 to 2004, Humphrey was COO of Goldcorp Inc. responsible primarily for the re-development, start-up and operation of Goldcorp's high-grade Red Lake mine in northwestern Ontario.

LOS ANDES COPPER of Vancouver has appointed Dr. Roger Moss as president and a director of the company. He is a professional geologist with 14 years international experience in the mineral exploration industry, including seven years in senior management positions at Amerigo Resources and Nikos Explorations. Los Andes has an interest in the Vizcachitas copper-moly property in Region V, Chile.
