Toronto's Detour Gold Corp. has named Derek Teevan its new VP aboriginal and government affairs. Previously he was director of government and corporate affairs at De Beers Canada where he played a key role in the environmental assessment and permitting of the Victor diamond mine in Ontario.

 

Joerg M. Kleinboeck is now VP exploration at Toronto-based Fletcher Nickel. Three years ago, the company purchased the former Texmont nickel mine in northern Ontario.

 

Allen J. Palmiere has resigned as CEO and a director of Toronto's HudBay Minerals following the company's unsuccessful attempt to acquire Lundin Mining. Colin K. Benner, a HudBay director, has been named interim CEO.

 

SNC-Lavalin president and CEO Jacques Lamarre is retiring on May 7, 2009, after a 42-year career with the company. He will be replaced by Pierre Duhaime. SNC-Lavalin, a leading engineering and construction group, is headquartered in Montreal.

 

Vancouver's Stornoway Diamond Corp. has added Dr. Serge Vezina and Dr. Matt Manson to its board of directors. Vezina was a long-time employee of Cambior, and is currently an adjunct professor at McGill University in Montreal and Laval University in Quebec City and a director of Osisko Mining. Manson is president and CEO of Stornoway and a director of Karmin Exploration.
