Bill Zimmerman, formerly president of BHP Diamonds, has been elected to the board of Vancouver-based DIAMONDS NORTH RESOURCES. Zimmerman is well-known among Canadian diamond miners for his work developing the Ekati diamond mine.

Montreal-based CANADIAN ROYALTIES announced that Dr. Richard Garnett has joined its board of directors. During his 40-year career, Garnett guided early exploration efforts of the Voisey’s Bay deposit, and he was a director of Diamond Fields Resources at the time that company sold the deposit to Inco.
Ed Yurkowski has become a director of Vancouver’s IMPERIAL METALS CORP. He is the president of Procon Mining and Tunnelling. Long-time director Dr. K. Peter Geib has retired.
GAMMON LAKE RESOURCES of Dartmouth, N.S., has added Patrick Reid to its board. Reid served as executive director and president of the Ontario Mining Association from 1984 until his retirement last year. He was also the Member of Parliament for Rainy River, Ont., (1967-84) and is a graduate of the University of Manitoba.
Brian Montpellier is the new VP of project development for Vancouver-based NORTHERN ORION RESOURCES. He will head the team responsible for the design, financing, construction and production of the Agua Rica copper-gold project in Argentina.
WEDA BAY MINERALS of Toronto has named its chairman, Michael Garvey, interim CEO beginning on June 1, 2005. Current president and CEO John Lynch is resigning at the end of this month, and the company is searching for a permanent replacement.
