Eduardo Baer has resigned his positions at Toronto-based EUROPEAN GOLDFIELDS. He will be replaced as president on an interim basis by David Grannell, who is also CFO.
Toronto’s JAGUAR NICKEL has appointed Nils Von Fersen general manager of the company’s Sechol nickel-cobalt laterite project in Guatemala. Von Fersen participated in the exploration and feasibility stages of the Collahuasi project in Chile while he was employed by Falconbridge.
Donald Brisebois has joined Montreal-based MIRABEL RESOURCES as president and CEO. Former president Normand Allen has become chairman. Further, Daniel Guerin has stepped down from the board of directors but remains on the advisory board.
OREZONE RESOURCES of Ottawa is pleased to announce that Peter Allen as joined it board of directors. He is a member of a distinguished mining family with a long history of involvement in the industry. He is best known for his position as president and CEO of Lac Minerals prior to its takeover by Barrick. Allen was responsible for transforming Lac from a small gold mining company into the third largest gold producer in North America. He is also president of Mercator Investments.
Douglas R. MacQuarrie, formerly VP exploration at Vancouver-based PMI VENTURES, is now the company’s CEO and a director. He replaces Laurie Sadler who has resigned.
SCORPIO MINING of Vancouver has appointed James Hesketh its president, CEO and a director. He holds a BS in mining engineering and an MS in mineral economics from the Colorado School of Mines.
