FASKEN MARTINEAU, one of Canada’s leading legal firms specializing in mining, has strengthened its presence in South Africa. Joining resident partner Peter Stafford in the newly opened Johannesburg office are partner Al Gourley and associate Alyson D’Oyley. The company also has offices in Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Yellowknife, Toronto, Vancouver, Quebec City, New York City, and London, U.K. It has expertise in the areas of mining finance, projects and joint ventures, permitting and mine closure plans, mining litigation, resource taxation, environmental compliance, and aboriginal issues.

McPHAR GEOSURVEYS of Newmarket, Ont., has named Rolf Pedersen to head its business development team.
