The new president and COO of Toronto-based Guyana Goldfields is Marcel F. DeGuire, effective Oct. 3, 2012. He will use his 40 years of experience to continue development of the Aurora gold project and deliver a bankable feasibility study. He was until recently CEO of Electrum USA, and before that he held senior management roles with Apex Silver Mines.

The Toronto office of SGS Advanced Systems Group has named Alan Gomez to the new post of global technical manager. He was formerly the company’s regional manager in Santiago, Chile, and has moved to Toronto.

SNC-Lavalin of Montreal has named Dale Clarke executive VP and head of global mining and metallurgy, effective Oct. 1, 2012. He succeeds Feroz Ashraf who is retiring after 33 years with the company. Clarke has led many of the company’s key projects in Panama, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Peru, Madagascar and Tanzania, as well as various Canadian locations.
