HUDBAY MINERALS INC., based in Winnipeg, Man., has appointed Jeff Swinoga, CA, as VP and CFO, effective October 2005. Swinoga has more than 14 years of experience in finance and accounting related to the resource and finance industries. He joins HudBay from Barrick Gold Corp., where he served as director, Treasury Finance and more recently as assistant treasurer.
Toronto-based SOUTHERNERA RESOURCES LTD. has appointed Alasdair MacPhee as president and CEO, positions that he has held on an interim basis since July 20. MacPhee, most recently executive VP Africa, joined SouthernEra in 1997 as a project manager. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA, and has 25 years of diamond operating experience, including 17 years of continuous service within the De Beers group of companies.
