Toronto-based KINROSS GOLD has named Tye Burt its new president and CEO. He will take up his duties in early April when Bob Buchan steps down. Burt was most recently vice-chairman and executive director of corporate development at Barrick.

Hon. Frank McKenna has resigned his position as a director of Toronto's FNX MINING to take up the position of Canadian Ambassador to the United States. He is replaced by Ronald P. Gagel, formerly VP and CFO at Aur Resources.

KENSINGTON RESOURCES says that James (Jim) Rothwell as accepted the position of chairman. He was formerly an executive at Dia Met Minerals and worked for BHP Minerals when the Ekati diamond mine was developed.

Samuel K.C. Yik has been tapped as PINE VALLEY MINING's new VP of corporate development and commercial operations. He is a chartered account and holder of a commerce degree from the University of British Columbia.

Vancouver-based NOVAGOLD RESOURCES has appointed a new manager, Stan Foo, for the Donlin Creek gold project. Immediately before joining NovaGold, Foo was mining section chief at the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. He has also been Placer Dome's Alaska state manager and general superintendent of the Cortez joint venture in Nevada.

J. Allan McNutt has been appointed manager of DEJOUR ENTERPRISES' uranium exploration program. The company holds interests in the Athabasca Basin. McNutt's experience as a geologist includes working for Rio Algom Exploration and the Saskatchewan Mining Development Corp. (now Cameco).
