WESTERN CANADIAN COAL has named Gary K. Livingstone to its top spot, that of president and CEO. Livingstone is a past-president and CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia and held senior positions at other Canadian mineral producers. Kathleen Pomeroy has been appointed VP environmental and regulatory. Lastly the company announced the appointment of Peter Olson as project manager to direct the engineering and contract management for the Wolverine coal mine.
Canada's first pilot plant to recover titanium-bearing minerals and zircon concentrates from oil sands tails has been opened by TITANIUM CORP. The company announced that Michael Yakimchuk, plant operator and metallurgist-in-training, and Jacques Doiron, plant operator, will be running the facility.
