Toronto-based LAKOTA RESOURCES has named Andrew Lee Smith to its board of directors. He was instrumental in developing the Sleeping Giant gold mine for Aurizon (from which he resigned in 1998) and is the co-founder of True North Gems. Smith is also president & CEO of Canaco Resources.

John Tosney has joined the board of GOLDEN BAND RESOURCES of Saskatoon. His career includes working at Saskatchewan Mining Development Corp, as a senior manager at Cameco and president of Cigar Lake Mining Corp. He is currently an executive advisor at Cogema. He has also been involved in all phases of gold mining at several projects in Saskatchewan.

The NICKEL INSTITUTE has named Steve Barnett its new president. He is on secondment to the institute from BHP Billiton, where he was VP of health, safety and the community in the Stainless Steel Materials Division. He will be based in the United Kingdom and the Nickel Institute office in Brussels, Belgium.

ADRIANA RESOURCES announced the addition of Anthony Kovacs to its technical team as exploration manager. He will be working on the MIE Cu-Ni-PGE project in Nunavut as well as Lac Otelnuk iron project in Quebec.
