President and CEO of INMET MINING, Richard Ross, has been elected chair of the MINING ASSOCIATION OF CANADA, headquartered in Ottawa. He has been an active member of the MAC board and a key member of the MAC Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) governance team. Ross is also president of the Canadian-Turkish Business Council, chairman of the Ok Tedi Mining board of directors, and sits on the board of St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto. Ross replaces Syncrude’s Jim Carter who has completed his two-year term.
ABER DIAMOND CORP. of Toronto has named Laurent E. Mommeja as a director of the company. John H. Lamacraft has retired from the company and Robert A. Gannicott will add the role of chairman to his duties as CEO.
The new senior VP and COO of IVERNIA WEST is Kevin J. Ross. He will be based in Toronto, but frequent travel to Western Australia is planned as he oversees the construction and commissioning of the high-grade, low-cost Magellan lead mine. Ross formerly held senior positions with Rio Tinto, TVX Gold, and Arcon. He is a graduate of the Royal School of Mines (BS) and Cranfield School of Management (MBA).
EXALL RESOURCES accepted two resignations and added two new directors at its recent annual meeting in Toronto. Agreeing to join the company were Derek C. Rance of Behre Dolbear & Co. and Frank Rebyakas formerly of Kaiser Energy.
