Last month at its annual general meeting, MIRARCO elected George Pirie of Placer Dome its new chairman to take over from former chairman Warren Holmes. Three new board members, Brian Maynard of Inco, Allen Hayward of Falconbridge, and Harley d’Entremont of Laurentian University, are also welcomed. MIRARCO has offices at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ont.

TAHERA CORP. of Toronto has revamped its board of directors. New to the board are Colin K. Benner (president and CEO of Breakwater Resources) and R. Peter Gillin (formerly of Zemex Corp.) Gillin has also been named Tahera’s president and CEO. The appointments follow the resignations of president and CEO Joseph Gutnick and board members David Tyrwhitt and Stephan Meyer.

Toronto-based TWIN MINING CORP. has appointed Patrick J. Maley its environmental manager for its Atlanta gold project in Idaho.

GOLDBROOK VENTURES of Vancouver has named David Baker its new president and a director. He comes to the position with 25 years’ experience in the investment community.

Claude Larouche has resigned as a director of Thunder Bay, Ont.-based LANDORE RESOURCES. He will remain as a geological consultant to the company through Ovalbay Geological Services.

METALLIC VENTURES GOLD of Toronto has made the following executive appointments: Edward “Buzz” Gerick as VP operations and Rand Lomas to the board.

The board of Toronto-based UNIGOLD has grown from seven to eight members with the election of Sheldon Inwentash, chairman and CEO of Pinetree Capital.
