Lars-Eric Johansson, NORANDA’s executive VP and CFO, retired on Nov. 11. He will remain a special advisor to assist Falconbridge with the financing of the Koniambo nickel project in New Caledonia.

The new president and executive director of EUROPEAN GOLDFIELDS is Eduardo (Ed) Baer. His initial responsibilities will be to oversee the growth of the company’s presence in the Balkans region and to list it on the London Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

Halina McGregor has joined TIMMINCO as its new VP finance and CFO. She is a graduate of McGill University and a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

SULLIDEN EXPLORATION has named Celso Sotomarino Chavez president of Sulliden’s wholly-owned Peruvian subsidiary, MINERA SULLIDEN SHAHUINDO. The first exploration drilling program was recently completed at the Shahuindo gold-silver project.

Patrick Reid, president of the Ontario Mining Association, and David Palmer have been elected to the board of PROBE MINES.

WALLBRIDGE MINING has appointed Guy Mahaffy as its CFO. His appointment followed the resignation of Tom Hussey.

John Purkis is now president, CEO and a director of MCK MINING CORP. Former president Stephen Case is now senior VP.

TIBERON MINERALS has hired Clinton Justice to market the fluorspar from the company’s Nui Phao project in Vietnam. Also, Malcolm Crawford has been appointed as a consultant to optimize fluorspar recovery.
