John Ivany has been appointed a director of Vancouver-based VICEROY EXPLORATION. He was until recently executive VP of Kinross Gold.

PINE VALLEY MINING of Vancouver has named Bob Bell its new president and CEO. He moves up from his position as executive VP and COO to replace Graham Mackenzie, who has resigned.

The new COO of Toronto's GLOBESTAR MINING is Jean Pierre Chauvin. He will be responsible for the construction of the Cerro de Maimon copper-gold project in the Dominican Republic (see above).

FIRST NICKEL of Toronto is eliminating the position of COO to coincide with the departure of John Haflidson. The COO's duties will be assumed by the new president and CEO, William Anderson, who takes over from the departing Beth Kirkwood. Lynda Bloom has resigned her position on the board of directors.

During the reopening of the Caribou base metal mine in New Brunswick, BLUE NOTE METALS of Montreal has engaged John Middlemiss to act as its representative with the engineering firms involved with the project. He was involved in various studies of the Caribou mill from 1997 to 2000.
