NORWAY GJERSTAD MEK INDUSTSRI reminds readers that it supplies efficient side-dump buckets for tunnelling and mining operations. The company says its bucket reduces mucking times from muckpile to truck or other haulage device by at least 25%, compared with conventional front-dump buckets.
The savings are possible because a truck needs only to stop beside a loader with a side-dump bucket. The loader only moves forward to the muckpile and then reverses straight back, stopping beside the truck. Typically, a loader with a front-dump bucket must move forward, load, reverse and turn, then move forward again to the truck to dump. That is followed by another reverse and forward motion toward the muckpile. The time-savings of a side-dump bucket are obvious.
Along with shortened loading cycles, side-dump buckets can reduce costly machine and tire wear. Fuel consumption and costs are also lower and provide additional environmental benefits.
