PHILIPPINES – Mindoro Resources of Calary says its joint venture partner, TVI Pacific, has commissioned the pilot scale processing plant at the Agata nickel laterite project on the island of Mindanao. The ore has proven amenable to acid leaching with good recoveries and low acid consumption.
More than 70 leach tests of Agata ore have been conducted indicating an overall extraction rate of 94% and acid consumption of only 650 kg per tonne of ore.
Mindoro said samples of Agata ore were tested in a Chinese pilot plant during May. That flowsheet included primary atmospheric leaching and secondary leaching in a low pressure autoclave. The pregnant leach solution from those tests will be shipped to the Philippines and processed in TVI's pilot plant. The pilot plant run is to be completed during Q3 2013.
