ONTARIO - Toronto-based FIRST NICKEL continues to intersect high-grade nickel-copper mineralization from the first stage of its drill program on the Lockerby Depth zone to the 67 level. The best results were: from hole FNI6412 a core length of 34.15 m grading 3.15% Ni and 1.73% Cu including 12.00 m grading 4.38% Ni and 1.45% Cu; and hole FNI6414 a core length of 32.30 m of 3.19% Ni and 1.82% Cu including 12.90 m grading 4.20% Ni and 1.46% Cu. Assays from the 15 recent and 25 earlier holes will be used to update the 2005 resource estimate, with a considerable increase expected.

Drilling the Lockerby Depth zone from 67 level to 72 level remains a priority for First Nickel. A resource estimate to 67 level is due in Q1 2007. The Lockerby mine, located 30 km west of Sudbury, was reopened late in 2005, and ore production is 220,000 t/y.
