ALBERTA - AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has been awarded the project development contract for SYNCRUDE CANADA's Mildred Lake and Aurora expansion near Fort McMurray. The five-year, $100-million contract covers relocating and improving processing facilities as well as applying new technologies. The project includes improved tailings management, bitumen recovery and energy efficiency.

In addition to engineering and project management for major oil sands facilities, AMEC provides the sector with environmental consulting, foundation systems, simulation modeling and technical operator training. The company has been active in the oil sands since 1967 and plays a significant role in most of the major minable oil sands projects in Canada.
