FINNING INTERNATIONAL of Vancouver has landed a $96-million contract for equipment and maintenance from MINERA EL TESORO, part of the ANTOFAGASTA MINERALS GROUP. Finning sold four Caterpillar 793C haulage trucks, one Cat D9R dozer and one Cat 834G tractor for a sum of $12 million. The five-year maintenance and repair contract is worth $82 million and may be extended to eight years.
This is the second large purchase the El Tesoro copper mine has made from Finning. The mining fleet now consists entirely of Cat vehicles.
Finning is certainly making a name for itself and Caterpillar in South America. The sale to El Tesoro is only the latest of several multi-million-dollar deals during the last two years. Go to www.finning.com and read the corporate press releases in the Investor Relations section.
