BRITISH COLUMBIA - FINNING INTERNATIONAL says its Canadian division has sold 18 pieces of Caterpillar equipment to WESTERN CANADIAN COAL and its partners LEDCOR CMI and PELLY CONSTRUCTION. The sale is valued at Cdn$33 million.

Western anticipates the startup of production in July 2006 at a rate of 2.4 million tonnes of clean coal annually. Before then, five Cat 789C 190-t trucks, five Cat 785C 150-t trucks, four Cat D10T dozers, a Cat 16H grader, a Cat 992 wheel loader, a Cat 834H rubber tired dozer and a Cat 385 excavator will be assembled at the site near Tumbler Ridge. The equipment is arriving now so that it can be used in preproduction stripping as well as mining operations.

Finning, noting the resurgence in the B.C. mining industry, is expanding its service support capabilities throughout the province. Its Prince George branch has been designated as a regional mining service centre. Finning expects to create 30 new jobs through the expansion of its mining-related services.
