FORT McMURRAY, ALBERTA Vancouver-based FINNING (CANADA) has won a $130-million contract from SYNCRUDE for mining equipment, parts and components.

The contract includes the sale of 11 Caterpillar 797B off-highway trucks and a nine-year parts and components agreement. In addition to the truck fleet, Finning will deliver a number of pieces of Cat support equipment including graders, tailings tractors, dozers, a pipelayer and a compactor. The cost of the total equipment package is about $70 million. The value of the parts and components agreement is in excess of $60 million.

Syncrude is expanding its oil sands mining and upgrading facilities, noting that the staged projects may have a total cost of $30 billion over the next decade.
