VANCOUVER - The Canadian division of FINNING INTERNATIONAL has been awarded a contract to supply all on-site power generation equipment for DE BEERS CANADA's Snap Lake underground diamond mine in the Northwest Territories. The contract is worth approximately $16 million.

The deal calls for Finning Power Systems to provide prime and auxiliary generator sets, ancillary equipment, control systems and enclosures to produce approximately 21 MW of electricity. Four Caterpillar 3616 diesel generators will be installed in the main powerhouse. The generators will have heat recovery systems to provide hot water for the camp. Three Cat 3516 diesel generators in custom-built cold weather enclosures will provide power during mine construction and function as backup when the mine begins production. The three auxiliary generators will be delivered on the 2006 ice road, and the four main units will arrive on the 2007 ice road.
