The primary crusher at NORTH AMERICAN PALLADIUM's Lac des Iles mine in Northern Ontario, went down in the middle of September. But it looks as if it will soon be up and running again. The company said it was working on the last problem involving a damaged outer eccentric bushing. When that is corrected, the unit will be tested and put back into service.

The Lac des Iles mine (see CMJ August 2001) is Canada's only primary producer of platinum group metals. The mill continued to operate, treating 12,000 to 14,000 tonnes of ore daily while the crusher was being repaired.
