LAKEWOOD, CALIFORNIA MAPTEK's I-SiTE laser imaging system can now be used underground with the addition of a new light that mounts directly to the top of the scanner. This is the world's first combined laser scanning, survey and digital imaging instrument. The stand-out feature of the I-SiTE 4400 is its capability to simultaneously photograph an entire area measured directly in one 360 panoramic sweep, producing a spatially correct 3-D photographic model.

Developed by an optical engineer, the I-SiTE 4400 illuminates the scene being photographed to allow for digital photo draping of underground faces and drifts that would otherwise be in total darkness. It is ideal for drifts that penetrate unstable rock, which must be shotcreted for stability. The speed of acquisition allows for mapping of the material prior to cover up.

The introduction of the I-SiTE system corresponds with Maptek's 25th year in the industry. Please visit www.MaptekNA.com.
