ALASKA The U.S. BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT (BLM) has awarded its 2006 Hardrock Mineral Community Outreach and Economic Security award to the Kensington gold mine belonging to COEUR D'ALENE MINES. The BLM presents this award to mines that have "shown responsible mineral resource development while demonstrating an understanding of sustainable development."

Gold production from the Kensington mine is expected to begin in 2007 at a rate of approximately 100,000 oz/year for 10 years. The projected cash operating cost is US$250/oz.
