McARTHUR RIVER, Sask. Water continues to flow into the McArthur River uranium mine at a rate that owner CAMECO CORP. calls serious. Pumping capacity has been boosted and the water treatment rate of the facility on the surface increased.
The water problem began on April 6 in development drifting, and production has been temporarily suspended. The latest estimate is that it will be another four to six months before mining resumes. Customer demands will be met from inventory.
