McCLEAN LAKE, Saskatchewan Unionized workers at the McClean Lake uranium mine voted 89% in favour of a new contract. It is retroactive to June 2002 and covers a three-year term.

Members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union, Local 48-A rejected an earlier offer and issued a strike notice on June 9. They returned to work four days later, and production resumed. About 200 staff and contractors work at McClean Lake, and half of them belong to the union.

The McClean Lake operation is owned 22.5% by DENISON ENERGY (www.denisonenergy.com) and 70% by COGEMA RESOURCES, the operator (www.cri.ca/operations/mcclean), and 7.5% by OURD CANADA.
