GOLD DEVELOPMENT: Barrick chooses Maptek software for Pascua-Lama

CHILE-ARGENTINA - Barrick Gold of Toronto has selected Maptek's Vulcan^TM planning and scheduling software for the Pascua-Lama open pit gold mine now under development high in the Andes on the border of these two South American countries.

Maptek will supply Barrick with Vulcan for geological modelling, resource estimation, grade control and geotechnical applications. Vulcan and its scheduling tool, Chronos, will aid in mine planning and scheduling. The manufacturer will also provide Barrick ongoing support and technical advice.

The implementation will be supported by staff in Maptek's Viña del Mar office. Training will go hand in hand with the software rollout.
