QUEBEC – Mason Graphite of Toronto has chosen the Jean-Noel-Tessier Industrial Park in Baie-Comeau for the site of its proposed graphite processing plant. The plant will treat material from the Lac Gueret project 300 km north of the town. Approvals, permits and financing have yet to be obtained.

The Baie-Comeau Development Corp. has agreed to give Mason declining property tax credits over five years and to provide municipal infrastructure for the plant.

The company will build not only the plant but also a tailings facility, maintenance buildings and offices. Annual graphite concentrate production is targeted for 50,000 tonnes. Construction of the plant is expected to being in 2016, and the plant will provide about 70 permanent jobs.
