Toronto-based Inmet Mining has named David Beatty its new chairman, replacing Richard Ross who retired at the end of the year. Beatty is professor of strategic management and director of the Clarkson Centre for Business Ethics and Board Effectiveness at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. He is also former managing director of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance. Beatty has been a director of Inmet since 2003.

 

Dr. Ken Thomas has been appointed to the newly created post of senior VP projects at Kinross Gold of Toronto. He will be responsible for the execution of the company's current development projects including the Fruta del Norte project in Ecuador and the Lobo-Marte and Cerro Casale projects in Chile.

 

Richard Molyneux, formerly president and CEO of De Beers Canada, and Keith Baptist, formerly with Newmont Mining and Resolute Mining, have joined the board of Toronto's Midlands Minerals.

 

Moneta Porcupine Mines of Timmins, ON, has named Dr. Sethu Raman to its board of directors. His over 40 years' experience includes president and CEO of Holmer Gold Mines (1986-2004).

 

Donovan Pollitt has been promoted to president and CEO of Toronto-headquartered Wesdome Gold Mines, from his former role as VP corporate development. He is a mining engineering graduate from the University of Toronto.
