QUEBEC - Royal Nickel Corp. has filed a project notice for its Dumont nickel mine with the Quebec Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks advising the ministry that it intends to proceed with development of the project in the Abitibi Mining Camp, 25 km northwest of Amos.

Royal Nickel president and CEO Tyler Mitchelson said the project is on target to obtain the necessary permits by the end of 2013 start production before the end of 2015. The preliminary economic assessment estimated that an investment of US$1.1 billion will be needed to develop an open pit mine and 100,000 t/d concentrator.

The most recent mineral resource estimate includes measured and indicated resources of 1.4 billion tonnes grading 0.27% Ni and containing 8.4 billion lb of nickel. There are additional inferred resources of 695,000 tonnes grading 0.26% Ni and containing 3.9 billion lb of nickel.
