PDAC 2026 interviews: British Columbia’s mining policy and competitiveness
Industry policy and competitiveness were the focus of this interview at PDAC 2026 with Michael Goehring, president and CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia. Goehring emphasized the importance of balancing environmental oversight with timely project approvals. However, realizing that potential requires regulatory efficiency and strong collaboration with Indigenous communities. “The opportunity is enormous,” he said. “But competitiveness depends on ensuring projects can move through regulatory processes efficiently while maintaining world-class environmental standards.”
