Roscoe Postle Associates Inc. of Toronto has appointed James W. Hendry and Graham G. Clow as principals and members of the board of directors. Both are mining engineers with more than 25 years of industry experience.

John Bovard has been appointed as CEO of Vancouver-based Asia Pacific Resources Ltd., replacing Robert Connochie, who remains as chairman and president. Bovard has 35 years of experience in mining, project development and corporate management. He will be based in Bangkok, Thailand. Olympus Capital Holdings Asia has designated Richard Knight and Lee Graber as new directors for the board of Asia Pacific after conversion of the company’s debentures into equity.

Derek Pannell has been appointed as president and CEO of Toronto-based Falconbridge Ltd., replacing Oyvind Hushovd. Pannell will remain president and COO of Noranda Inc., the controlling shareholder of Falconbridge. Pannell is a metallurgical engineer, and has been with Noranda since 1969. Joe Laezza has been appointed senior vice-president, nickel, and Allen Hayward has been appointed vice-president, mining.

Noranda Inc. of Toronto has appointed Brent Chertow to the position of senior vice-president, Canadian Copper and Recycling, based in Toronto. Chertow’s most recent position was vice-president, metallurgical plants operations. Noranda also appointed Fernando E. Porcile as senior vice-president, copper. He will be the companies’ main representative in Chile, responsible for Noranda’s primary copper operations, the Santiago commercial office, Noranda’s 33.75% interest in the Antamina mine in Peru, and Falconbridge’s South American assets.

The global engineering company AMEC has restructured its Mining & Metals unit, so that its wholly-owned subsidiary, MRDI, of Vancouver has now officially adopted the full AMEC name and brand. In support of this the company has appointed three technical directors. Harry Parker, former president of MRDI, will be technical director of geology/geostatistics. Steve Hodgson will be technical director of mining. Bob Pendreigh, one of the founding members of AMEC’s Mining & Metals unit, will be technical director, process (interim).

Jan A. Vestrum has been appointed president and CEO of Vancouver-based Crew Development Corp. Vestrum holds a MSc in engineering, and has extensive experience as a senior executive in the resource and technology industry and corporate finance, most recently as chairman and CEO of Concept SA France.

Major General Resources Ltd. has appointed Mark Kolebaba as president of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Diamonds North Resources Ltd. Diamonds North will concentrate on the company’s diamond properties in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Kolebaba left a position as senior geologist for BHP Billiton’s global diamond exploration team, where he was responsible for project generation in North and South America.
