BRITISH COLUMBIA - WESTERN CANADIAN COAL CORP. of Vancouver has received the mine permit for its 2.0-million t/y Brule mine on the Burnt River property near Tumbler Ridge. The mine contains low-volatile material suitable for pulverized coal injection burning methods. The mine permit was received from the B.C. Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources during the first week of February.

The Brule deposit hosts 36.2 million t of measured and 10,000 t of indicated resources. Development of the Brule mine follows depletion of the resource at the nearby Dillon coal mine where production began in November 2004.
