NORTHWEST TERRITORIES – Dominion Diamond Crop. of Toronto reports that rough diamond production, sales and pricing have all exceeded targets for the first quarter of fiscal 2015 (February through April). That puts the company about 24% or $100 million ahead of its expectations for the period.

Total production at Ekati for the three months was 561,000 ct. The Fox pipe was the most productive, yielding 231,000 ct, followed by Koala (172,000) and Koala North (71,000). The Misery satellites produced 86,000 ct.

Dominion's share (40%) of the Diavik mine amounted to 1.84 million ct. The most productive kimberlite was A-418 at 779,000 ct, followed by A-154 North at 546,000 ct and A-154 South at 420,000 ct. Treatment of the coarse ore rejects recovered another 93,000 ct.
