SASKATOON – Great strides can be made in underground air quality by replacing diesel-powered vehicles with electric versions. Now after years of testing on-road and underground, PapaBravo Innovations introduced its line of heavy duty 4x4, 1-tonne electric mining trucks last year, and the company reports that orders are flooding in from Saskatchewan mine operators.

All the vehicles have certified roll-over-protection-systems (ROPS) and can be outfitted with certified falling-object-protection-system (FOPS). The product line has been expanded from 0.25-tonne personnel carriers to 1-tonne work trucks; almost any diesel underground vehicle can now be replaced by an emissions free electric vehicle.

All the PapaBravo mine trucks are designed specifically for underground potash mining conditions and are equipped to take the harsh abuse of the underground work environment.

The vehicles are powered by lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFeP04) batteries which require no maintenance and do not have any gases present during charge or discharge. The hauling capacity of this truck is 1,800 kg, making it one of the highest capacity trucks in its size range. With the ability to travel 120 km per charge, the vehicles are a perfect replacement for a diesel trucks. PapaBravo’s heavy-duty industrial vehicles can be charged in less than an hour giving them the capability to run 24/7 or up to 500 km per day.
