
In mining and industrial job sites, specialized sensors are used to monitor water and other liquids for acidity levels (pH) and oxidization-reduction potential (ORP). This data helps workers determine environmental conditions. Emerson (NYSE: EMR) has announced the Rosemount 350A pH/ORP sensor to help deliver these measurements in harsher environments.
The new digital sensor is designed to overcome the challenges traditional analog devices face when sampling pH/ORP levels in high temperature and high pressure areas. The sensor’s digital Modbus interface and M12 quick-connect cabling, supports plug-and-play commissioning, reducing the electrical noise associated with manual wiring. The Rosemount 350A also features retractable mounting and titanium body options to improve performance in a variety of corrosive liquids.
“The sensor is designed to help customers simplify commissioning and improve measurement confidence in tough process conditions,” said Rachel Jang, Emerson’s global product manager of liquid analysis.
The Rosemount 350A stores its own calibration and diagnostic history, giving maintenance teams added context as they plan to use the measurements to conduct root cause analysis.
