Liebherr’s new R 9300 G8-E, an electric-powered upgrade to its R 9300 G8 excavator, is now available for commercial deployment.

The machine expands the company’s 250–tonne portfolio, offering a greener alternative to the diesel-powered version, while maintaining the same hydraulic power and bucket capacity.

The R 9300 G8-E is built around an 850 kW electric drivetrain that is available in 6 KV and 6.6 kV configurations.

Battery benefits

Since it is battery-powered, the R 9300 G8-E produces no direct exhaust emissions while in use. Liebherr says that, depending on the mine's electricity source, this system can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The electric engine also vibrates less than the diesel version, improving operator comfort in the cab. And with fewer drivetrain components, the R 9300 G8 can help simplify maintenance and reduce operating costs, Liebherr says.
