David Berman was recently named chief financial officer of HEDMAN RESOURCES. He graduated from York University in 1983 and worked as a financial consultant and as a financial officer for a number of private and government orgranizations. The company also announced that Edward Blanchard, who spearheaded the discovery of an asbestos-free lizardite ore deposit, has resigned from the board. Separately, Hedman announced that it has changed the name of its industrial mineral filler products to Northfil from Superfil.

VICTAULIC COMPANY has named Gary Moore as president of the company. Moore joined Victaulic in 1988, rising through the sales to vice-president and general manager. He is based in Rexdale, Ont., and assumes responsibility for all branch offices across Canada.

Daniel Van Der Merwe is the new manager of the Tirisano diamond mine near Ventersdorp, South Africa. The mine is owned by ETRUSCAN RESOURCES. The first phase of production at Tirisano will produce 19,200 carats per year.

TENKE MINING is pleased to report the appointment of Paul K. Conibear to the position of president and CEO. Conibear has a background in project and construction management in North America, South America and Africa. He spent many years with Fluor Daniel Wright and was part of the team that created Simons (AMEC) Mining Group.

AXMIN Inc. has filled two top positions in its orgranization. Jean Claude Gandeur has become chairman and Dr Michael Martineau deputy chairman. Gandeur is chairman and CEO of The Addax & Oryx Group, which holds 49.5% of Axmin's shares. Martineau is a director of several companies including Ashanti Goldfields and Eurasia Mining.
