MINING PEOPLE: Estrella Gold, Kiska Metals, Lara Exploration, Reliant Gold, and Suncor

The directors of Vancouver-based Estrella Gold Corp. have named Jason Weber as the new president and CEO of the company. He has over 20 years of experience in mineral exploration, project and corporate development and was until recently the president of Kiska Metals. Weber is the holder of a BSc in geological sciences from the University of British Columbia.

Grant Ewing is the new president, CEO and a director of Kiska Metals Corp. in Vancouver. He brings over 25 years experience including executive leadership in several other exploration and development companies.

The new president of Vancouver-based Lara Exploration is Miles Thompson, who replaces Andre Gauthier.

Reliant Gold Corp. of Toronto has promoted J. Errol Farr to the position of CEO. Kabir Ahmed has relinquished his former position as CEO but will retain his duties as president and corporate counsel of the firm.

James W. Simpson is assuming the chairmanship of Suncor Energy. He has been a director of the Edmonton-based company since 2009. Most recently he was chair of Suncor's human resources and compensation committee. Simpson replaces retiring John Ferguson.
