MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Alexis Minerals, Matamec and Midlands Minerals

Chantal Lavoie has joined the board of Toronto-based Alexis Minerals. For the past eight years he worked for De Beers Canada and before that for Barrick Gold an at Aur Resources’ former Louvicourt mine. He is also president, CEO and chairman of Crocodile Gold.

Matamec Explorations of Montreal has hired Paul Blatter, a graduate of McGill University, as its director of metallurgy. He will lead the mill design team through feasibility to operation.

Dr. Dominique Fourier is the new VP of exploration at Midlands Minerals of Toronto. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the successful hunt for gold and uranium. Most recently he worked for Alamos Gold in Turkey where the Agi Dagi and Kirazli gold deposits were examined.
